Halifax, Canada – Vesuvius Media is proud to announce its fifth board game, Covil: The Dark Overlords, will go into production this Fall, thanks to over a thousand people who pledged over $77K USD during its latest Kickstarter crowdfunding campaign that ended on Monday, July 3.
“We are over the moon! Thank you to everyone who supported this campaign!” said Konstantinos Manos, Vesuvius Media C.E.O and Lead Game Designer. “Every Kickstarter is a gamble. We wonder if people will like the game, if we will be able to engage the community. We work hard and hope people become as excited as we are about our games.”
In Covil, players take on the role of a Dark Overlord and struggle for supremacy of the regions surrounding an isolated town. Each player has unique powers and countless minions to help them defend against enemy hordes and bring peace to the territories (at a cost, of course!).
“This campaign was so much fun,” said Luis Brueh, Game Designer and Illustrator of Covil. “The community really got involved, guessing what cartoon characters inspired our minions and overlords, and coming up with some great ideas of their own. We loved it!”
Covil is a family friendly (9+), area control board game for 1 to 4 players. Playing time: 30-45min.
Late pledges, including all 28 unlocked stretch goals, will be accepted for a limited time in the Vesuvius Media webshop.
Vesuvius Media will produce the game in English, Mandala Jogos will produce the game in Portuguese, and Arrakis Games will produce the game in Spanish. Downloadable PDFs of the rule book and playing cards are also available in other languages for free online.
Covil is scheduled to be shipped to backers by November 2017; however, attendees at GenCon in Indianapolis this Summer will get a sneak peek and be able to play Covil during a special GenCon Event on Friday, August 14. Tickets are limited.
“We have a lot of work ahead of us and, as always, we will keep everyone informed on the game's progress,” said Manos. “We can't wait to get Covil on tables!”
